Learning new things.

Hi everyone. So sorry that I have not been around for a bit. After making my first few videos I have now gone into making gifts for Christmas. Yes it's like me to want till the last few weeks to get started. I have now added quilting to my list of crafts. Still have a lot to learn but so far I am liking it a lot. I have made a blanket for my Grandson and now I am working on gifts for five other people. I do hope to get them all done in time. I still need to take a picture of my Grandson's quilt and even though it's not perfect I will still post it. Not everything we do turns out perfect and just how we picture it. Sometimes this can be a good thing when it turns out completely different and even cool. We are alwas learning and tht is a good thing. As long as our hearts and oour minds are in the right place then eveything well work out for the best. Also remember tht the best way is never the quickest way. Try and do it right the first time.
Take care for now and keep crafting.

Back to blogging

Hi everyone! Now that the summer has come and gone and fall is in full swing, I now once again have the time to work on my blog. I am so sorry that I have not posted anything for a long time. But the good news is that I now have learned to up load videos and went out and bought a new video camera. So it's on wades and up wards for this blog. My first video is of using shaving cream to colour paper. I am also working on making my Christmas cards so there will be videos from that also.  As I make them I will post them not only to my blog but also to Youtube.
So take care for now and keep crafting

Sunday 15 May 2011

I am so sorry to everyone that I have not done anything here for a very long time. But as we all know life does sometimes get in the way. I have been doing lots of things in my craft room, but stupit me have not been taking pictures of it all. The things that I have I will post soon. I made all my family cards for Easter. I tried to do different ones, I made what I call box style, easel cards and even made one of my own design. I am working one putting a book together for myself with the steps to different style of cards and other paper crafts. I finished the explosion box for my mom and gave it to her for Mother's day. She loves it. I added pictures of the family members to it and the people that live close I had them each sign their picture. I made my daughter a card for her first Mother's day. Then there was my niece's birthday that I had to make a card for. I have also made a sign for the fornt yard with the help of the circut. Sewed a case for my markers and am redoing a wooden rocking horse that I bought for $2.00. I was so hoping to stain it but as I was removing the old paint it had stained the wood, so instead I went out and bought brown paint for the house and black paint for the seat, handles, and rockers. I also bought the stuff that I will neede for the tail and mane, also tacks that I am going to go around the outside of the seat with. As for cards I have three birthdays coming up, a get well card and it's time to start thinking about Father's day. So I do believe that this has updated everyone on whats been going on in my life. Not as if anyone will really be reading this, but on the small chance that you do I hope everything is going great for you.
Take care for now and keep crafting.

Lazy slob!

Boy the time flies by the older you get. My mother use to tell me this when I was younger and she was so right. I don't know what has gotten into me, but every night I go to sleep thinking of  all the things that I plan on doing the next day. I think that I will get up earily, clean the house, do some paper work and sometimes even bake. Then when it's all done maybe go into the craftroom for a bit. But then the next day comes, I open my eyes and it's already eleven o'clock this alone pisses me off to no end because I think of all the things that I could have had done by now. I then get my coffee and since my husband and I are smokers but do not smoke in the house I go out to the garage. Half of our two car garage has a carpet and the outdoor love seat, two chairs and a coffee table, pretty nice set-up. Oh and it's heated also. Anyways I go out there to have my coffee, a couple of cigarettes and go onto the computer. Now when I'm done it's twelve thirty or later, pissed off even more. I may clean up the kitchen a bit but since I still need to get dressed and pick Amber up at two thirty why get started with the house work. Instead I go to the craftroom for a hour. While in town to get Amber I may as well go and see if there is anything new at Wal-mart in the crafting area. After getting home from picking up Amber I may throw a load in and then have a nap. Anyways as you can see I do not get anything done again for the day. This seems to be the way things are anymore and the days that I go to work nothing at all gets done. I remember when I would be up at 7am with the kids and stay up all day cleaning and cooking. Now that they are older if I get up with them I go back to bed once they leave. I find that I do as little as I can with the house when I really want to do more but just can't seem to make myself do it. I always seem to have time to help others even if I really don't feel like doing it.
Boy I can not believe that I just shared this with you! Everyone out there is now going to think that I am a lazy slob. But I need to share it and is not a blog the place for sharing? So please don't look at me poorly, just look at me as a person who needs to get that fire lit under my ass again.

Thursday 31 March 2011

I know that I have not really been posting much lately, but I have been working a lot in my craftroom. I am still working on somethings for my Grandson and as of right now all they need to do is dry when I can wash them and they will be done. Amber will be making her's this weekend and I still have to ask Nicholas if he would like to do one for Owen. I also have been making embellisments. What I have been doing is cutting out small shapes like trees, flowers, bees, birds, etc. from the cricut and covering them with glitter, they look so cool. Some are done with just one colour but others like the bee, flowers and tree are being done with more then one colour. I have also been colouring some pictures with water colours and now I am working on getting them cut out. One that I am working one is of a fairy on a tree stump with flowers all around. My plans when I am done cutting her out is to use her in a card. I would like to make it so that she is inside of a cut out cricle giving her more of a 3 D look. I think that maybe by putting the same picture in behind will help with this. I guess that I will just have to want and see. I will not be getting back into the craft room until maybe tomorrow night since I have to work during the afternoon. The good thing is that after tomorrow I do not have to work again until Thrusday, leaving me lots of time to craft. I told my husband yesterday on the phone that I want to do something this weekend, he thinks I mean  go for dinner or to a movie. But little does he know that what I really want to do is go to Michael's, boy how I could live at that store. I don't think anyone likes to go with me because I like to take my time and look everything over, which ends up meaning being in Michael's for an hour or two.
Anyways take carre for now and keep crafting!

Fabric painting

The last couple of days I have been trying my hand at painting fabric. I have been making things for my Grandson. I am still working on one with a honey pot on it and one with eyor ( hope I spelled that right). They are taking longer to make since there are many layers to them so I have to wait until the first one dries before I can do the next. But so far I am very happy with the way that they are turning out. Amber plans on making one also, it will be her first time using the cricut. What I have done is cut out the stencil with vinyl on the cricut then put that onto the frabic, it works great. Take care for now and keep crafting.

Happy Monday Everyone!

Happy Monday to all! It's the beginning of a new week, the kids are in school and Mark,my husband, has just left for the week. It made for a great time to go downstairs and finish a card that I was making, or should I say six cards. I decided to make a group of cards that can be used as thank you cards , note cards, truthfully just about anything since they are blank and the picture on the front does not really say anything to you. So how did I make them?  I started off with some napkins that I bought from the Dollar store, yes my favorite store! I then poged the napkin onto card stock.  Once they dried I cut them down to the size that I wanted, added the ribbon and attached them to the card. Using my cricut I cut out the doll and the doll layers and attached it. I have found that adding the doll to the poged napkin has been a bit of a trick because the ATG strips don't seem to want to stick. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Shaving cream card

Here is a card that I made today. I used shaving cream and alochol inks to colour the white glossy photo paper. I never tried this before and think it turned out so cool. Once again I will tmake a video to show you how to do this and maybe this time it will up-load for me. Take care and keep crafting.

Just me and my craft room

Today was a great day. I got a lot done in the craft room. I first finished the dresser that I got from my Dad. It was blue but now it's white with pink trimming. I cut out all of my children's names, my husband, my son-in-law and my Grandson name in pink vinyl and put them on the side of the dresser. The top of the dresser I set up with fabric and tull and hung a piece of lace against the wall, this will be for the pictures that I will be taking of any crafts that I make. I also started to hang the new rod for my ribbons since I ran out of room on the old one. Like I said I started to hang it but failed and now it can wait until the weekend when Mark is home, he will get it up for me. I also finished a card that I was working on, I wanted it to look antique and think that it turned out okay. So far my card making skills are far from some that I have seen in other blogs. but with work I know that I too can be right up there. I then took pictures of three cards using the new area that I had fixed up for picture taking and if I can say so myself I think that the pictures turned out pretty good. After doing all of that I got back into making some more flowers for the explosion box that I am making. My plans are to do the lid up with paper flowers.
Next to all of that it was the mom stuff that filled the rest of my day, going to the bank, picking up glasses for Amber, driving kids here and there and how could I have forgotten a trip to the dollar store to pick up somethings for the craftroom. I do believe that tomorrow will be another day for myself in the craft room. One of these days I really do have to put the craft room under lock and key so that I can get the spring cleaning done because spring will be over before we know it and my house will still be a mess, at least the craft room is clean.
Take care for now and keep crafting.

Antique card

This is my try at making an antique looking card. I used a picture from the web and used water-down brown paint to age it. Then once I put the frame around it I filled it with glossy accents to try and make it look like a framed picture with glass.

Cute Card

Here are two cute cards. The one with the bear is a digi stamp that I coloured with water colours.
This one I cut out with the cricut. I than inked around the "I love you".  I cut out the cream layer with some craft scissors. I also used precut base cards for both. I just love this little guy. Both of these two cards were very simply But I do feel that they turned out good. Sometimes simple is best I believe. Take care for now and keep crafting.

Birthday and family

Today was my 41st birthday. Well, I guess since it's 2:30am my birthday was yesterday. I wanted to write this post because of my family. On saturday we went to my parents for our yearly get together for my birthday and the first BBQ of the season. This is something that we have been doing now for 20 plus years. On matter the weather it's always a BBQ of hot dogs and hamburgers, something that I do so look forward to every year. There has been years that the snow has been as high as the bbq and we still do it. My oldest, her husband and the baby went there earily and put balloons and streams up outside and inside and in my fav. colour, pink. My b-day I woke to a chocolate, two layer cake that my 16 year old made on her own. This was the first cake she has made with my help and it was great. The four of us at home got to sit down to a big breakfast, which Amber also helped cook. Sara and the baby came out for a bit. Nothing beats having my children around any day of the year. Amber then got her dad to take her into town to get things for dinner and made it all by herself, another first for her and once again it turned out great. Nicholas has been working on his room all weekend and gave Amber a hand with dinner. For Nicholas to clean his room was a wish come true for me.
There are many days where I feel over worked and under loved, I am sure we all do. But when my family trun around and do this it makes me forget that I have ever felt that way. No gift, flowers, cards, dinner out,not even bling can bring me as much joy as the gifts that my family gave me this year, the gift of love and thoughtfullness. The gift of letting me know how much I do mean to them and making me see why I do all of these things for them, because each and everyone of them deceive it. I would not change my life for anything. I do have to say that I draw the lucky card because with my family by my side I am a winnier each and everyday.
Thank you to all of you for making this the best birthday I have ever had and for being my family.

Home made Glimmer spray.

Well it's my favorite time of the week and not just because it's saturday but because it means that my husband is home until monday. It is very hard being a family of a truck driver, some say you will get use to it but the truth is you never do. I have spent time in my craft room cleaning up the mess and making some mini paper roses, right now they are drying from the home made glimmer mist that I put on them. I don't understans why anyone would go and buy glimmer mist when you can make it for so much less and it works great. All you need is water, a spray bottle and metalic paint. I just get the paint from Wal-Mart for around $2.69 and the spray bottles from the dollar store. You then just mix it all together using as much paint as you need to get the colour that you want and there you have glimmer spray and a lot of it for under$4.00.
I do think I will also try my hand at making some imformation videos today. If it morks out then I will post them for you to use. Take care and keep crafting!

Explosion Box

Hi everyone! This explosion box which I am slowly working on is still a work in progress. Since I am quite proud of how it's turning out I decided to go ahead and show it to you. Once I am finished I will post an other picture, I guess it will be like a before and after. Take care and keep crafting!

So it was about time that I got around to doing some more work on the explosion box. It has just been sitting there collecting dust. All of the flowers that are on the lid I made out of paper. My plan is to make as much as I can from paper and so far I would have to say that 99% is. So lets hope that I can keep it up.

Cricut Card Challenge

I have been looking over a ton of blogs lately, to get different ideas and came across http://cricutcardzchallenge.blogspot.com/. I have been thinking about doing one of their challenges and have decided to go for it. I have to make a 9x4 card, that is the only rule. Right now I have my Grandson and soon I will be going to the dentist but once I get back I am going into my craftroom and see what I can come up with. I will keep you posted. Take care and keep crafting.
So here it is, the card that I just finished

Paper Roses
Okay so I decide to try my hand at making paper roses, boy they are a lot easier then I thought they would be. I am not going to write how to make then because it is one of those things that I feel is best to be seen, so I will be making a video tonight on it. As soon as I learn how to make one I will post it on my blog. Have a great day and keep crafting!
I have also been making mini roses. I ended up cutting out 100 flower shapes and the same for the leaves, thank God for the cricut. Right now they are drying because I've glimmer sprayed, them hopefully tomorrow I will take some pictures and show you.

Happy Monday Everyone!

Well it's that beginning of a new week. The only thing I hate about it is that it means I will not see my husband for 5 days. That's the life of a truck driver's family. But the good thing about today is that I can go downstairs to my craftroom and spend a couple of hours with no one bugging me. I am not quite sure what I'm going to do but I will let you know later. There is something I would like to share. For those of you who would like to use Sure Cuts A Lot but are not sure about it, here is a video about how to use it, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKLBNM9j8n0. I love using sure cuts a lot, by using this you can cut any picture with your cricut. One of these days I plan on cutting a picture of my Grandson.
Have a great day and keep crafting!.

March 6,2011

Today I am working on adding how to make an explosion box. Also my two daughters and myself went to the dollar store, I just love that place. I picked up some more spray bottles for mixing my own glimmer spray. It works so good and is a lot cheaper then buying it.I also picked up some containers for my craft room and some Easter embellisments. Earlier I made up some letters on my cricut for my son's school project. So all in all it's been a quiet day spent with my family, including my Grandson. I hope everyone has had a great day, take care for now, see you soon and keep crafting.
